MAHASHIVARATRI

Thousands of Sadhu Babas (Holy Hindu Men) starts to arrive in Pashupatinath, Kathmandu, to celebrate the Maha Shivaratri Festival which is on Thursday, 27th February 2014. They have started to occupy their space and started to smoke marijuana in “Chelam”, a smoking pot. Most of the Sadhus sit and sleep around wood fire for the whole week during the Maha Shivaratri. Thousands of Sadhu Babas, the followers of Hindu God Shiva visit Pashupatinath Temple to worship God Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri Festival “The Shiva’s Night”. Sadhu Babas take bath in the Holy River Bagmati on the occasion of the festival. Some Sadhu can be seen necked. Many Sadhus also come from India. It is believed that this is the day when Lord Shiva transformed and appeared as the Shivalinga. Maha Shivaratri has been celebrated by fasting and being awake all night. Hindus perform puja of Shiva all through the night in the Pashupatinath temple and others Shiva Temple.
